Cervical Epidural Steroid Injections

Cervical epidural steroid injections deliver anti-inflammatory medication directly to the source of nerve irritation in the cervical spine. This targeted approach can provide significant relief from arm pain, numbness, and tingling caused by disc herniations, bone spurs, or spinal stenosis — often allowing patients to avoid surgery altogether.

Are Cervical Epidural Injections Right for You?

Cervical epidural steroid injections may be recommended if you're experiencing:

Procedure Overview

Procedure Time

Approximately 15-20 minutes

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia with light sedation available

Recovery

Resume normal activities within 24-48 hours

Relief Timeline

Typically begins within 3-7 days, may last weeks to months

How the Procedure Works

Using fluoroscopic (live X-ray) guidance, a small needle is precisely positioned in the epidural space near the affected nerve root. A combination of corticosteroid and local anesthetic is injected to reduce inflammation and pain. The procedure is performed as an outpatient and patients go home the same day. A series of up to three injections may be recommended depending on your response.
